Getting Started
A step-by-step guide to creating your account, funding your wallet, and playing your first game on SkillClassics — free on our test networks, Ethereum Sepolia and BSC Testnet. BNB Chain is live, with entry fees capped at the micro tier while our independent third-party audit is outstanding.
Create Your Account
Getting started with SkillClassics takes less than a minute. Choose your preferred sign-in method:
Option A: Web3 Wallet (MetaMask, etc.)
- Install MetaMask or your preferred wallet extension.
- Click "Play Now" on the landing page, then choose "Connect Wallet".
- Approve the wallet connection prompt.
- Sign the authentication message (this proves you own the wallet — no gas cost).
- You're in! Your wallet address is your account.
Option B: Social Login (Google, X, Email)
- Click "Play Now" on the landing page.
- Choose "Continue with Google", "Continue with X" or "Continue with Email" in the login window.
- Complete the OAuth flow or enter the email OTP code.
- An embedded wallet is automatically created for you via Openfort — no extension, no seed phrase to write down.
- You can export your private key anytime from Settings, under Security ("Wallet Security & Export").
Fund Your Wallet
Play is free on our test networks and real on BNB Chain — it works exactly the same way, only the money is different.
Playing for real (BNB Chain)
On our test networks you fund your wallet from a free faucet — no real funds are involved. On BNB Chain, entry fees are real and you can lose them. Entry fees are capped at the micro tier while we wait on an independent third-party audit, so the most you can put at risk in a single contest is small by design.
Practising for free (test networks)
Switch to Ethereum Sepolia or BSC Testnet with the network selector, then head to the Lobby and open the faucet panel at the top of the Lobby (headed "BSC Testnet Tokens" or "Sepolia Testnet Tokens"). It mints free test tokens straight to your wallet with one click — on BSC Testnet you can mint test USDC directly; on Ethereum Sepolia it links you to Circle's official Sepolia USDC faucet. You'll also need a little free gas:
- Ethereum Sepolia: free Sepolia ETH from any public Sepolia faucet (the faucet panel links one for you).
- BSC Testnet: free testnet BNB from the official BNB Chain testnet faucet (linked in the faucet panel).
For Social Login Players
Your embedded wallet works exactly like any other wallet — the faucet panel mints straight to it. Your wallet address is visible on your Profile page if you ever need to send it tokens manually.
Choose Your Network
Switch networks anytime with the selector in the top navigation.
- BNB Chain — entry fees in BNB or USDC, low gas, capped at the micro tier.
- Ethereum Sepolia — free practice, gas paid in Sepolia ETH.
- BSC Testnet — free practice, gas paid in testnet BNB, with test tokens mintable directly in the faucet panel.
Ethereum mainnet is coming next, and Solana is planned. Make sure your wallet is on the same network as the game or tournament you want to join — the lobby filters by network, and the app will prompt you to switch if there's a mismatch.
Find & Play a Game
The Lobby is your gateway to four games — Chess, Backgammon, Gin Rummy, and Go — across three ways to compete:
Head-to-Head Matches
- Browse open tables in the lobby, or pick a game and click "Create Table" to set your own game speed, entry fee and currency.
- Joining a table deposits your entry fee to the smart contract escrow (a one-time token allowance approval is needed the first time).
- Once both players have deposited, the match starts.
Sit & Go Tournaments
Register with your entry fee and wait for the table to fill — the bracket starts automatically the moment enough players have joined, no fixed start time needed.
Scheduled Tournaments
Register ahead of time for a tournament with a posted start time. Larger scheduled tournaments can span multiple tables at once. When the clock hits zero, everyone still registered is seeded into the bracket.
Multi-Table Play
You can have several games or tournament boards open at the same time. A pulsing notification tells you when it's your turn elsewhere — click it to jump straight to that table.
While You Play
Every game runs on a time control, enforced by the server down to the millisecond — your clock is your responsibility.
Disconnects
If your connection drops, the game keeps going and your clock keeps running. If you are gone for 60 seconds after play has begun, you forfeit; reconnect before then to carry on.
Fair Play
Randomized elements like dice rolls and card shuffles use a cryptographic commitment scheme so neither side can influence the outcome. Full details are on our Fair Play page.
Claiming Prizes
Entry fees sit in the escrow smart contract, not in a SkillClassics account, until you claim your prize or refund.
The Flow
- Players deposit their entry fee into the smart contract escrow when they join a table or register for a tournament.
- Every move is validated by the server as the game plays out.
- When the game ends, a claim button appears — for matches, right on the game screen; for tournaments, on the results screen.
- Claiming calls the smart contract directly, which verifies the result and releases your prize to your wallet.
Service Fee
A service fee is included in each entry fee and deducted before the prize pool is funded — 8% for entries under $5 and 6% at the $5 maximum; entries paid in BNB carry a flat 5%. Lower rates in the published schedule only apply if the entry-fee cap is raised — it is reviewed once the independent audit completes. If a match reaches a drawn position, it is settled by the published tiebreak procedure — see the Game Rules page — so every contest produces a winner who receives the prize pool.
We never charge a fee to withdraw. Claiming your entry fee, refund, or prize costs only the blockchain's own network fee (gas) — nothing more. Claim within 30 days of settlement: after that, an unclaimed prize becomes recoverable to the platform treasury, as set out in our Terms.
Profile, Replays & Security
Your Profile page is home base once you're playing regularly.
History & Earnings
See every match and tournament you've played, your results, and your earnings, all in one place.
Replays
Re-watch any completed game move by move — scrub through, auto-play, or flip the board to see it from either side.
Two-Factor Authentication
For extra account security, enable two-factor authentication in Settings → Security. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, confirm with a 6-digit code, and save your recovery codes — from then on, sign-in asks for a fresh code on top of your wallet or social login.
